One of the most expensive photographs I’ve created

“Higher than Empire State” probably has been one of the more expensive photographs to make so far. The Empire State building in New York City has been photographer at least a million times.
Since the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001, the Empire State is also the tallest tower in Manhattan. The viewpoint I wanted for this image was to be above it: I wanted to be higher than Empire State. Some of the key ingredients: return airfare to New York, good weather, a sense of adventure, and a helicopter. Especially the latter added to the cost of creating this photograph, but the experience was very much worth it.
Notice the detail in the image – you’ll see the flatiron building in the same image, which, with any other angle, is next to impossible to do.
My photographic art comes with an invitation: which is to go see all the beauty this world has to offer for yourself. Get inspired to plan a trip to the Big Apple – or reminisce about a previous trip – with the images in my fine art photography gallery.
