Reflecting on our circumstances in life often brings us to a point where we are forced to describe our goals. We want something better, something new. For many of us, becoming financially free is a goal that’s somewhere on the list. It has been for me, for a long, long time.

It’s not just about the trend of wealth creation. Financial freedom seems unattainable without the right shift in thinking. It’s what I call the “millionaire mindset”. It involves a lot of different approaches to your current lifestyle while learning financial strategies through searching for opportunities. My Millionaire Mindset course, geared towards financial freedom, deals with these three main topics:

  • changing your thinking about money
  • learning a new financial management system
  • adding new options to your life

By turning goals into reality and acting responsibly, financial freedom can be a much closer idea than before. Financial freedom can be achieved relatively easily as long as your income exceeds your expenses. That means the goal isn’t necessarily to increase your income, but first to decrease your expenses. Secondly, we’ll look for additional options to generate more income streams for you.

The philosophy behind financial freedom relies on our attitude towards money. In order to achieve financial freedom, we must describe our priorities which include how we look at money.

Caring for Money

The first fundamental perspective of a millionaire’s mindset is thinking that people are interested and should be interested in money. Why not? Money is a vehicle to make your life work and to make our system go round and round. Money doesn’t buy happiness, but as I share in my Happiness book, money can free up a lot of your time to deal with and focus on the things in life that actually matter. It’s about valuing money the right way. People who seem to be satisfied with the money that they have today, end up getting stuck in the bottom of the financial pyramid.

However, ethics and interest and money should not be removed from each other. The reality is, money is a vehicle not only to make a living, but also to make a quality life. Focus on what’s important. Learning to value and appreciate money gives you a perspective that makes you responsible for your finances. Discovering what money means to you is an important first step in achieving financial freedom.

Making Money Work for You

A millionaire’s mindset always assumes that money should work for you and not the other way around. While working hard is important, it’s not necessary to achieve success. Hard work and struggle begets more hard work and struggle. Being a slave for money can just be the same problem for people who have money and those who don’t. The key is to find ways to rise over the “hustle and grind” and make money work for you. Learning to empower yourself with the options that you have available to you will give you more room to help yourself and inspire others.

The Love of Money is the Root of all Evil

This is a saying that has stood for thousand of years. It’s been the foundational principle of my upbringing. Until today it stands true for many of us. Yet financial freedom is not the same as love for money. Freedom from money is about seeing money as a tool. Money is a means to and end. Love for money is seeing money as the end. There’s a huge difference there. Love for money continues to put you under the spell of getting more money – and as a result you become a slave to it. That’s about as far removed from financial freedom as you possibly can get.

For many, money is tangible. We all see it, we all have it, and we all see it go away. Money is a medium to buy what we want, making it an integral tool for trading in a wealthy economy. However, a millionaire’s perspective looks at money in a different way. By giving the idea of money the right place in your priorities and in the right balance, you can be free yourself from it by becoming effective in setting up financial strategies to achieve financial freedom.
