How social media erased the once popular work-life balance

As a creative business person, or as I’d like to call it “artrepreneur“, you probably have a social media work-life balance: you’re active on LinkedIn, and keep Facebook for your personal life. Right? Wrong! Many entrepreneurs overlook the power of social media marketing on the personal side of social media marketing where it’s not about selling, but about sharing.
Following topics
Social networking sites have taken away the anonymity of the Internet by connecting people online. People are starting to use their social media profiles to learn more about whatever it is they’re interested in. The once popular work-life balance starts to fade, especially online. Social media doesn’t just connect people, it connects people interested in specific subjects. This is one of the principles I’ve used building my social media masterclass – people aren’t necessarily following other people, they’re first and foremost following topics they’re interested in. Once you know that life-changing social media principle, you can use it to your advantage to get your posts in front of a growing audience all the time and build your following organically, without spending anything in advertising.
Connecting with people
A lot of business owners are solely focused on sales, and wonder why they struggle with getting engagement from their social media activity. They overlook the simple fact that people don’t want to connect with businesses, people want to connect with people. As a result, many entrepreneurs complain that their posts on Facebook are only seen by on average about 7% (often even less) of their “fans”. Their ultimate goal is to increase sales by driving additional traffic to their website, but they can’t seem to find the right angle. The key to attracting those people interested in your specific subject, is to stand out. Easier said than done. The average customer sees about five thousand marketing messages every day. People are inundated with marketing content, and become preconditioned to ignore straight up sales messages. To get past that filter you’ll need to create valuable, useful information for your audience. Make sure that your message allows people to get involved: ask questions and post answers. Make sure what you share is relevant and up-to-date.
Social Media Success
Once you start attracting additional traffic to your site, even if people aren’t buying from you right away, you have succeeded. The ultimate social media success is measured through popularity, regardless of whether you’re selling anything or simply giving something away for free. If you develop a flow of steady visitors, you have a never ending flow of leads and potential customers knocking on your digital doors. That’s where the true value of social media lies.
In business, nothing is “too expensive”. The old adage of “you have to spend money to make money” still holds true. The price you pay for a social media advertisement becomes irrelevant as long as the results are there to go with it. If a thousand dollar ad makes five thousand in additional revenue, would you agree that investment was probably worth it? Social media sites combined have more traffic than Google, and it’s time to bring those interested visitors directly to your site.
You can do this by using the right strategies and tactics to put yourself in front of that audience. My free Social Media Guide will help you do exactly that, and leverage the power of high traffic social media sites for your profiles.
