Overnight Results Don’t Exist, So Work On What’s Most Important Now
Entrepreneur June 7, 2020 Wilko van de Kamp

Breaking news: Overnight results don’t exist. Of course you already knew this, but in working with my clients I’m still surprised every day that some of them refuse to commit to a new approach, strategy or plan for even 30 days to get things started.
We might know, at an intellectual level, that overnight results don’t exist, but secretly we kind of expect them anyways. Thirty days is a long time to wait for results to show, and when they don’t we often prefer to consider a complete overhaul of what we’re doing instead of making a small pivot, and a slight change, to get a competitive edge over what we were doing before.
The Residual Outcome
The results you’re seeing today, in any area of life, are the residual of your thoughts and actions from the most recent past. To change the results you’ll get in the next 30-90 days, you have to change the actions you take today. Instead of considering throwing everything out I recommend adding something new to what you’re doing today, and see how that works out for you in a few months from now. Based on those observations, you may wish to pivot your approach again, or add something new again in the next few months. Continuous improvement is easier than it seems, as long as you’re willing to keep learning and committing to the effort it takes to find the results you want.
