Two small business organization tips that will save you time and money

Over the years, I’ve tried it all, different ways to organize my finances, with much trial and error. As per usual when you live a life by experience, some things worked, some didn’t. There’s a lot of systems and methods out there that aim to help in my organizing skills, but I found the majority of them are very tedious and time-consuming. Time I need to proof my work, and do my research. For me, bookkeeping is a mandatory evil that I have to do every month, but I need to get it over and done with as quickly as possible leaving me with the least amount of frustration.
In terms of tracking my finances, I rely on two services to keep me organized: Shoeboxed and Freshbooks.
How it works: Shoeboxed
Simply send them your receipts, business cards, bills and other documents and everything will be carefully sorted and scanned into a secure online account. All of the organized data, including an IRS-accepted image of each document, is then human-verified, categorized, accessible from anywhere and ready for export into dozens of powerful tools.
How it works: Freshbooks
Staying on top of your finances is key, and these guys have helped me with that. They make invoicing, as well as tracking time and expenses for all my clients super-easy for me. And they have additional built-in features to help you get paid faster, too?
Try Freshbooks yourself
Overlap?
Sure, there is some overlap between the two since Freshbooks can also track expenses like Shoeboxed does, however they don’t currently provide the human verification I’ve grown so accustomed to when dealing with my receipts. The convenience of just having to snap a quick picture of a receipt and having it turned into useable data without me even lifting another finger is, quite literally, priceless.
