Are you one of those people who enjoys doing everything yourself? You’d much rather learn the hard way, doing things your way, than allowing yourself to get the help you deserve. I definitely belong in that category. I’m a self-thaught everything, and a bit of a lone wolf. And even though I eventually figured a lot of things out that way, it’s not always necessary to go at it alone. Because the more I learn from others, and the more knowledge I acquire by having mentors, teachers, and coaches, the faster I can grow and the more successful I can be.
Research says that the average person spends four hours in front of the television per day. That’s two full months out of every year, not including any sleep. And yet we claim we’re “too busy” to call a friend, sign up for a course, exercise, read (or write!) that book we’ve always wanted to read (or write). The list goes on. I enjoy watching a little television every once in a while, but by reducing the time I spend on watching television and using that time on something that actually contributes my goal I can create the time I didn’t have before. If you don’t know what to do with all this new-found time, and watching television has been a comfortable “default” way to spend your evenings, why not start by reading inspirational on travel, happiness, work, sales, health etc. (If you still don’t know where to start have a look at The Freedom Project.)
Another way to learn is to attend conferences, workshops, and courses. You don’t even have to go far: there are many great online resources available (including a few popular online courses I created myself). However, to learn from other people you have to be “coachable”. The things we want in life are often just outside our comfort zone, and in order to get there you have to be willing to stretch yourself a little (or a lot) outside of your comfort zone. Have an open mind. Are you ready to try something you’ve never done before?
This post is based on Success Principle #36. I’ve learned about the success principles from my friend and mentor Jack Canfield, and in this post I shared some of the things he thought me. In the 10th anniversary edition of his book “The Success Principles”, Jack Canfield presents the sixty-seven principles which, if learned and practiced, can help everyone to realize their goals.
If you’re ready to take the next step and learn more, I’d love for you to join my new online course “The Freedom Project Online“. You’ll discover the liberating blueprint to finding freedom and happiness to pursue your biggest dreams, and living life on your terms. This course contains the same information others charge you thousands for… don’t miss out! It features my interpretation of the teachings by The Secret, Law of Attraction, Jack Canfield and many others.
