5 Reasons I Didn’t Move To Vancouver… But Love Visiting

It’s with mixed feelings but a happy heart that after 11+ years in Calgary I’ve decided it’s time for change. After being landlocked for this long I miss being near the water. Real water: salty water. So it’s time to move on and I’ve got my destination set for Vancouver’s West Coast. Or… so I thought…

This past week that initially happy heart has been ripped out and reality-checked back into place… I thought only New York had that kind of destructive power but it turns out Vancouver is a tough mistress too.

Long story short, here’s my top 5 learnings and realizations from my exploration trip:

  1. Yes, I love being near the beach. On a HOT day in let’s say Maui / Mexico / BahaMas (I guess any sunny destination with an M will do). Not endless days of rain where it’s cold and miserable and everything gets wet. Which brings me to my next point.

  2. The airport code for Vancouver is YVR which stands for alwaYs Very Rainy. This might be the warmest spot in Canada – but these clouds are believed to be …
