A Better Money Management System: Why You Need Income In Addition To Your Job

Most people are working in a job that provides a suitable income and false sense of safety. Yes, that’s right: suitable income and a false sense of safety. I did not say sustainable. As soon as a JOB disappears the income stops, either right away or within a week or two. Suitable income means that you have enough to pay the bills that you can’t afford without the job. A sustainable income comes in even when you’re sleeping.
A recent survey confirmed 50% of Canadians are within $200 of not being able to their cover bills and debt payments. If an unexpected but required expense of $1000-$2000 would come up tomorrow, would you have the means to pay for it without going into debt or credit cards? If not, maybe it’s time to use a different money management system.
