Gratitude: The secret ingredient of success
One of the most inspiring things you can do for yourself is to find gratitude in your everyday life. Just take some time every day to be consciously grateful for the things in our life that we are grateful for – and that includes being grateful for unpleasant things that did not happen.
But instead of being grateful, we tend to be negative and complain. Complaining can be a powerful addiction. Think about the last time someone asked you how you were doing, how your day went, or how the weather was. How did you respond? Was your response one of excitement? Or was it a lukewarm “it’s ok”, or maybe even downright negative? Contrary to how bleak life may look to you at times, if you list at least 3-5 aspects of your life with gratefulness, your attitude and outlook will shift.
“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”. (Wayne Dyer)
Finding gratitude may be difficult if you’re addicted to negative thinking. It might seem that everything goes wrong for you all the time. Beginning with saying “Thank You” for all the things that you do have is a great place to start. To have sight, hearing, the ability to walk, to talk, think, are all good reasons to be grateful. If you begin and end each day with gratitude you will start to notice how doing something so easy will have such a powerful impact on your life.
After a period of time of being faithful to this concept of displaying gratefulness, amazing things begin to happen with the way you think:
You no longer have to search to find something to be grateful for, these thoughts will automatically come to you.
You begin to see beauty around you everywhere you look.
You start to feel better about yourself.
You will have a more compassionate attitude towards other people, rather then a judgemental point of view.
Several other aspects of how you view life will shift.
“We create our own life”
Let’s begin by taking responsibility for the way we think. So many thoughts and information pass through our brain each day, that it seems impossible to control it all. Yet even if we start to control some of our thoughts, we will eventually be able to control a lot of our thinking.
So begin today. Bringing your consciousness to a level of gratitude changes the vibes you send out into the world. Whether you just speak your thoughts of gratefulness in your mind, or begin to journal things to be grateful for each day, things will begin to shift for you, and you will feel much more at peace with yourself.
