Stop playing cultural jeopardy at work

Inspirational speaker Kirk Weisler introduced me to the concept of playing cultural jeopardy. During a conference I attended, he asked the following question, as if we were guests on the television show Jeopardy: For twenty-thousand dollars the answer is… “it’s ok”, “can’t complain”, or “same old, same old”.
What’s the question?
Too often, the question is “how are you doing”, “ how was your day”, “how’s that book you’re reading”, “how’s your life”, and so on. Our responses are lukewarm at best; not really cold, but not warm at all either. We’ve lost our passion for the life we’re living.
Even when anyone shows interest by asking us a direct question about our life, the response we’re giving is mediocre at best. Instead of sharing something we’re passionate about, whether that’s something we’ve already done or still want to accomplish, our response is “it’s ok”.
