What does it mean when someone says they’re looking for opportunities?
Be careful when someone says they’re looking for opportunities. It all depends what an opportunity means to them. To me – it means getting out of my comfort zone, potentially trying something new that I haven’t done before that allows me to grow both in my career and as a person.
When I speak to people that are looking for a new opportunity (yes, I am expanding my team in Calgary currently), I’m naively using that as a starting point. But, as with most assumptions I tended to embrace in the past, I was proven wrong. People looking for opportunities are usually looking for doing the same thing they have done before. I think a career is more than a circus act where you get to perform the same trick over and over again. Then again, I get bored easily and like throwing myself out of my comfort zone.
