Ever noticed how social media algorithms take an estimated guess about your interests and then bombard you with unsolicited advice? For me, the moment I started diving into long-distance running a few years ago, my Instagram1 feed quickly transformed into a flood of running “tips and tricks”—most of which, quite frankly, were not helpful. Even worse, they were downright wrong. It got me thinking about how we all receive so much unsolicited advice on everything, ranging from life and business to running2, often from well-meaning but ultimately off-mark sources.

A running coach once said, “you’re an experiment of one”. Most gurus and “coaches” out there are trying to sell you a system that worked for them, back in the day. You have to figure out what works for you. It's not just about running. The same applies to most (if not all) other areas of life.
