Why I’m fed up with taking advice from “successful” people I never met

Full disclosure: this weekend I lost it a little bit. I had a mini-breakdown. Somehow I got one too many invitations for the next big success workshop. And a webinar. Conference. The list goes on.

Don’t get me wrong. I love learning new things, and educating myself. This year alone, I spent a significant portion of the money I raised on attending conferences and events around the world. I even offer a number of training programs myself, in an attempt to share what I’ve learned with the rest of the world. It’s a combination of “paying it forward” and my motto “sharing is caring”.

So even though I make a portion of my living through online education, please take these things to heart:

  • You DON’T need to work 80+ hours a week.

  • You DON’T need to read 100 books a year.

  • You DON’T need to listen to 20 podcasts.

  • You CAN have a relationship.

  • You CAN volunteer.

  • You CAN enjoy life.

Bottomline: Do yourself a huge favour and please STOP taking advice from “successful” people you never met. Most of them only…
