Looking to put your frequent flier miles to good use? Why not opt for the relaxation of an Hawaiian beach vacation. Add to that the culture the islands have to offer – and you have the perfect ingredients for a vacation. Hawaii isn’t everyones cup of tea. Some only see the surface: a sunny, tropical beach destination. But if you’re willing to look beyond that, you might discover something you love. Even if you’re on a budget, you should be able to enjoy your Hawaiian escape for a lot less than most people think. Beyond the typical beach appeal, Hawaii has a lot of character.
Hawaii offers some of the best weather in the world. Anywhere in Hawaii, you can relax on the beach, swim in the ocean, play golf, go snorkelling or even scuba diving. It doesn’t matter which one of the islands you pick (my personal favourite is the quiet serentity of Maui).
Coffee is big business in Hawaii, and for good reason. Kona coffee is grown in the Kona region on the big island of Hawaii since the 1800’s. Kona coffee beans are grown in ideal conditions. The climate offers the perfect amount of sunshine, moisture and temperature. As a “thank-you”, the plant produces the best beans imaginable. The small white flowers, also known as “Kona snow”, appear around February-March. Harvest happens from August to January every year. After harvest, the coffee beans are sun-dried. Finally, the roasting process creates a unique coffee with a full aroma and flavour.
Where to find Kona Coffee
Many coffee distributors in Hawaii offer Kona coffee. But be careful which one you buy. There’s a difference between Kona blend (mixed with other coffees) and Kona roasted. The first one is a sales trick. It may be a good coffee, but it’s blended with a cheaper quality coffee. True coffee lovers will want to look (and pay) for Kona roasted. It has a unique stamp to show it’s origin. Amongst other places, Island Lava Java sells 100% Kona coffee.
Kona coffee offers a flavorful cup of coffee with a rich aroma. It’s known throughout the world as one of the best coffees available today. Pure Kona coffee is pricier than many other types of coffee, but it’s worth every penny. One taste of this delicious beverage will convert you.
