Planning a trip to Las Vegas? Last month I got an completely free trip to Sin City. It’s the casino’s way to get me to start on my high-roller status early for the new year. We’ll find out soon if they’ll extend me for another year. I’m almost always planning a trip somewhere. I’d like to go somewhere, near or far, at least once a month. It helps me stay focused and refresh my mind.
If visiting Vegas is on your bucket list this year, I’d love to help you make your trip even more memorable:
- Grab a copy of my travel hacking book to secure free airfare.
- Try to qualify for high roller status (without breaking the bank) before you go.
- Find a hotel to stay. There’s a post here listing some of my favourites. More options here.
- Decide on what to do. Below you’ll find my favourite free shows and attractions on The Strip. (please share yours in the comments!)
Bellagio Fountains
The Bellagio Fountains on the Strip put on a show that anyone can watch for free. Music plays and the jets of water dance to the tune. The impressive water and light show features opera, classical and popular music. Even DJ Tiesto has a track (watch the video here). The shows last two to three minutes, depending on the song. It’s even better at night when the fountains are lit up with colourful lights, adding to the magic of the fountains.
Showtimes: Monday-Friday 3pm-8pm every half hour, 8pm-12am every 15 minutes. Saturday-Sunday: 12pm-8pm every half hour, 8pm-12am every 15 minutes.
Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens
Inside the Bellagio lobby (past the check in area), you’ll find the Botanical Gardens. Enjoy strolling among the wonderful seasonal display of plants and flowers. You’ll discover rows of exotic plants and flowers. There are unique displays for every season and holiday. My favourite is the Christmas setup. It’s an perfect location for a photo opportunity, so come early in the day to miss the crowds.
Volcano at the Mirage
On the hour from 7pm-12am daily, you can watch the volcano erupt. It’s an impressive display of fire. The show is located at the front of the Mirage. It looks impressive against the darkness of the night sky.
Fall of Atlantis
This free show is hidden away in the Forum Shops, the shopping complex attached to Caesars Palace. The Fall of Atlantis fountain show features special effects and animatronic figures. It tells the story of the myth of Atlantis.
Showtimes: 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily.
The above information was current at time of writing. Las Vegas is ever changing, so please check to make sure shows and times are still current.
