One of the most beloved travel destinations in Canada is the Banff and Lake Louise area located in the province of Alberta. The town of Banff is 90 minutes (75 miles) west of Calgary and is within the Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. During the winter, the local resorts of Sunshine Village and Lake Louise offer some of the best snow skiing around.
But, local season passes and even “discount” cards are becoming increasingly more expensive – so for the upcoming season I bought myself the Mountain Collective pass. For $429 it gets me two days at each of their 16 destinations in Canada, the United States, and beyond! For Canadian skiers, there’s two days included in Lake Louise, Sunshine Village, and Revelstoke. If you buy the pass early enough, they throw in a third day at the resort of your choice. That’s 7 days of skiing close to me. With day passes going for almost $100 each, the savings is easy math. The variety of different resorts makes this deal a no-brainer.
But, being the travel hacker that I am, the goal is to optimize my use of this pass. Only 3 of the resorts are close to me. If I can just ski at those, I’m a happy camper – however if I can swing going to one or even more of the US based resorts, or even fly beyond that to Australia, Chile, Japan or France… I’m getting a lot more out of this pass. To help you plan your ski trips, you’ll find all resorts listed in this PDF, including nearest airport and driving distance from the airport to each resort. Bon voyage!Download PDF
