Let’s use a realtor as an example: imagine someone is interested and invites you over to discuss the opportunity of listing their house with you for sale. If you end that sales conversation by giving them a free copy of your book, you have something very interesting to leave behind. It will give a very positive end to that sales conversation, and also increase the chances of them phoning you back and giving you that listing – if they don’t already decide to do that on the spot.
