Life can feel like New York traffic sometimes. It sounds exciting but it isn’t really moving at times. Are you stuck in a rut and unsure how to make changes in your life? Your thoughts, your feelings, what you focus on have all created your reality. How do you like the person you have become so far? What’s the quality of life you have created for yourself? How would you rate it on a scale from one to ten?
Be Real With Yourself
Without judgment, take a look at what you have created. Just accept it for what it is. Is it in alignment with your goals? Did you roll into it by default, guided by other people? No matter where you are today, you can choose to take responsibility for your life. You can start with one area of your life. Something you want to work on and see different results in. You, and only you, are responsible for your present level of success in life.
It can be your relationship, your career, your health, your finances or anything else. You decide what you want to focus on. You always have: it’s the awareness of your focus that can create a different result if you wish. It’s up to you.
Smell The Roses
It helps to know your purpose and be clear on what you want to achieve. Most people live life on auto-pilot. When I was first asked about what I actually wanted to achieve, I had no idea. I wasn’t unhappy at the time, but just never put much thought into where I wanted to go in life. Get clear on your life purpose and stop wandering through life with little or no direction. You can increase your awareness by quieting the busy mind. Simply put: Stop and smell the roses.
For example, when you watch people at a local park, you can start noticing a few different behaviours. Some people will stop and enjoy the surroundings. They will take time to smell and touch the flowers, or enjoy the scenery. Some will walk by and take no more than a quick glance. Others will pass by and never noticing anything at all. If you stop them and ask, they will reply “what flowers?”
The goal isn’t so much to stop and smell the roses, but create a life that allows you to work amongst the roses. What would that look like for you? Success is different for everyone. And the path to get there is even more different for everyone.
Get Into Action
Take action to live your life on purpose, not by accident. Inspired action means honouring your strengths and live from the inside out. Be present in the here and now. The past is gone and no more than a fading memory. The future hasn’t happened yet, but the actions you take today will impact what your future may look like.
No matter the path you choose, there is no such thing as failure. It’s just a different journey. Be open to new opportunities, learn from others, gain new experiences and move forward.
